About Us

WORSHIP PHILOSOPHY

At St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, we recognize that worship is an offering to God, and therefore an act of participation by all the people. Thus the inclusion of the gifts and talents of God’s people in worship is essential.

Our worship is centered on Jesus Christ and is ordered and shaped by the Holy Scriptures. Our Lutheran tradition provides the order of worship which includes the Confession and Forgiveness, the reading of the Word of God, our response to the Word, the Meal, and the Sending. We value the presence of various styles of music, décor, and visual arts in the expression and inspiration of our worship.

Recognizing that Sunday worship is the primary opportunity to welcome the stranger into our midst and to join us on our journey of faith, we welcome people to “come as you are,” knowing we are all broken and sinful in need of God’s grace. Gathered in this sacred space we respectfully worship the Holy One in our midst. Worship is an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ through the gift of the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. This time together is an opportunity to build relationships where we experience the love of God together.

Through worship, we are strengthened and sent out into the world to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others.
